The Costa Daurada hosts numerous local sporting events, including marathons, triathlons and Iron Man competitions. 2014 saw the inaugural edition of the Canyon Cambrils Park sportive, organised jointly by the Cambrils Park Resort and Cycling Costa Daurada. 1,000 cyclists from all over Spain and Europe took part in the event, which offered two routes of 180km and 100km respectively.
The event, held in April, takes in some of the most iconic climbs and most stunning scenery in the region, including the vineyards of Priorat, through the pine forests of La Serra del Montsant and the valleys and peaks of Las Crestas of La Llena.
The UCI World Tour race, the Volta a Catalunya (the Tour of Catalonia) is held in March and the Costa Daurada is often included. Likewise, the Vuelta e España visits the Costa Daurada and the Province of Tarragona regularly, most recently in 2013 when Philippe Gilbert, wearing the rainbow jersey of World Champion, held off his rivals to take the stage victory in Tarragona, after a lumpy stage that snaked through the vineyards of Priorat before the run in along the coast to the finish.
