Hi everyone out there in Wheelsucker world.

I felt it was time to give my bike an early Christmas present, and so, after carrying me over 2000 miles this year, I’ve had it given the full strip down, “Gold” service it deserves.

I prefer to give my trade to local businesses where possible, and therefore, after asking around a few of my cycling comrades, I was pointed in the direction of Oundle Bikefix. This is a business run by a cyclist, for cyclists.

Today, having had the work completed, I took it out for a quick run to see how it all felt. Well, I was more than a little impressed. It felt better than it did when it was new! Gear changes were quick and clean, the drive train was super smooth, and overall, it just felt “nice”. And all this at an extremely keen price.

So, if you’re ever in the East Northants / Peterborough area and need some work on your trusty steed, give Mark at Oundle Bikefix a call. You won’t be let down.

It would be nice to build up a directory of recommended Independent Cycle Technicians across the UK, as you never know when you might need one!

There are still a few skilled independents out there, fighting against the ever-expanding chains.  God bless 'em and keep 'em.

Cytronex Bikes, Winchester are the Dog's doodahs! I wouldn't trust my beloved Plug to anyone else. It's frightening the number of bike shops out there who don't know how to chain tension a singlespeed. Having previously entrusted the care of my bike elsewhere, until I met Cytronex, I thought all singlespeeds went 'glockada glockada'! Now, all is silence and loveliness....

Hi,

Just had my bike serviced by Dyfrig at Hobbs Cycles at Carmarthen in West Wales.

My trusted companion the Orbea Onix should be fine for another year! It's great to support small, local, independent businesses, I feel.

As a matter of interest what would be considered a fair hourly rate for labour with regards to a bike mechanic when servicing your bike?

Would be grateful for any feedback. Happy cycling folks!

Aled

Hello all,

Can anyone recommend a good cycle dealer in East Kent to service my cycle?
