Here,s a question,I can do basic bike maintenance, cleaning, lubricating changing tyre/puncture repair etc,But anything major i would not tackle,i don,t have the tools for one thing. So where would you go? Your local independent dealer ( He,s a minutes walk from my front door) or my local Halfords (I get 10% discount because i,am a member of British Cycling).Whats your opinion folks?
Local Independent dealer every time for me.They're always full of knowledgeable people and you're supporting a local business. :)
I'd use my LBS because I know the quality of the owners work.
I've used some of the big chains before - quality varies. Some is good, some is not so good.
The LBS it is then! Big thanks to you lot.Ride safe
I always use the LBS. With them their training is better, you get to know them & they know what they are doing.
Mine also organise rides on a Saturday and Wednesday evenings (summer only) & like others have said you know the people in there are passionate about bikes and cycling.
I have tried Halfords and Evans and I felt they didn't do a decent job. I have also tried my LBS, they ripped me off saying they had changed my brake pads when they hadn't. Put me off straight away. So I went to a shop closer to work and they changed my RD for an inferior model without asking me. Again, won't go there again. I now use a guy that runs his own business from home and picks my bike up, does the work, then drops it back off at home (Or work!) He will also do work at my house. Top guy and someone I've not built up a good relationship with.
