I have to second that Dave, I missed it when they didn't hold it last year.

Works really well as a family event as well.

All thanks to you and our members elsewhere in the UK (& beyond) for your great contributions that we've got this far.

We're now looking forward to more local and national press coverage to help us reach 5,000 members! Please help us by getting the word out and by inviting your friends to join. Thanks!

Presentation by Matt Blake: "I’ll be home just after Christmas..." plus Cyclox Christmas Social.

Free Cyclox event this Wednesday 4th December 2013. No registration required.

7:30 pm to 9:00 pm

St Michael’s at the Northgate, Cornmarket St, Oxford OX1 3EY

With only a vague idea of how to fix a puncture, Matt Blake set off by bike from his Banbury home saying he would be ‘home just after Christmas’. He finally rode back into his hometown nearly four years, 61 countries and 46,000 miles later.

Matt will talk about his exploits and sign copies of his book “I’ll be home just after Christmas: Stories from four years around the world on a bicycle”

This will be followed by the Cyclox Christmas Social – a chance to chat with the committee and members about cycling issues.

For anyone who's interested, a Cyclox meeting next week:

Designing a cycle-friendly roundabout in Oxford

Thursday October 17th at 7.30 pm St Michaels at the Northgate, Cornmarket St

All welcome, free, refreshments.

With the County Council receiving almost £1m from government to improve things for cyclists on the roundabout at St Clements, this meeting is an opportunity for cyclists to voice their difficulties with The Plain, to hear the planners’ view of the problem and for all parties to look at solutions.

This busy 5-way roundabout is the main route between East Oxford and the city centre and it can be daunting for less-confident cyclists. Going east, it is important to get into the correct lane whilst seeing what other vehicles are doing and where mastering the art of the backward look is vital.

We need to know what you think about the problem and the possible solutions.

If you can’t get to the meeting please email your thoughts to Cyclox - contact@cyclox.org – we want to put your views to the council planners.

STOLEN: A Cinelli track bike (black and yellow with one blue wheel), an on-one carbon road bike and Identiti mountain bike. All 3 were locked together by Donnington bridge today. I'll post more information when I get it.

A very sad update on the cyclist found unconscious on Bayworth Hill, just off Boars Hill, earlier in the week. This is a popular hill for doing hill repeats, but it does plunge down very fast and has a tight right hand bend at the bottom, with gravel and manhole covers to negotiate too. I hope this was just a tragic accident and nothing more sinister comes to light in the near future.
