The most iconic climb on the island of Mallorca. Only one way down and only one way up, so no going back once you've made up your mind to turn off the main road that hugs the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range in the north of the island and descend down to the sea.
Pro teams will be training on this stretch of road as we eat our Christmas dinner, but even in April it is an exposed, hot and unrelenting 680 metre climb back up to the Coll dels Reis.
Certainly enjoyed that cold beer on my return to Puerto Pollensa.

Comment by Dave Nash on May 3, 2012 at 18:37 Hey Shaun - I enjoyed the cold beer! Never mentioned enjoying the ride!! But to be honest, I loved it - I actually preferred the climb to the descent. I'm not a confident descender at the best of times and it is a very technical, tiring descent.
Comment by Andy Dawson on May 3, 2012 at 16:39 Sounds like you've done this more than once Shaun! I spoke to 2 riders on the way up and both said almost exactly the same thing to me: "I did this last year and promised myself I'd never do it again".
Must admit, I'm beginning to look forward to doing it again. I think I'm starting to forget...
Know the climb well, glad you enjoyed. I hear Bradley Wiggins broke the record of climbing out this year!
Comment by Andy Dawson on May 2, 2012 at 18:43 It's 4 days after I did that descent then climbed out again. My thighs still hurt.
