Riding the cobbles, near Oudenaarde, Belgium
Add a Comment
Not sure I 'enjoyed' riding them myself, they're brutal, but the experience was brilliant. Mercifully, the actual cobbled stretches are quite short. For anyone interested in European cycling heritage I would heartily recommend a visit to the Centrum Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders Centre, www.crvv.be). It's an excellent museum and there are 3 marked out routes starting right outside that take in the historic roads and climbs - Koppenberg, Oude Kwaremont, Muur van Gerardsbergen. Not to mention some lovely scenery and quiet roads (yes, even in Belgium!). Anyone else been?
Never got to ride the cobbles. Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, haha!
