The glory of this year's Tour de France is still burning brightly in the minds of all cycle fans (well, British ones at least) and it appears to have also caught the imagination (aka market share) of Executives at ITV4 which is to broadcast daily highlights of the Vuelta a Espana.
The station's annual coverage of the TdF brought in a whopping 3.6 million viewers during the final stage of the race and overall they increased their TdF audience by 25% compared to 2011. That rise was before the Olympics so ITV4 is no doubt hoping that Wiggo + Team GB will have a double-whammy effect on its viewing figures.
The 67th Vuelta is the final Grand Tour of 2012 and the 60-minute highlights will include all 21 stages over 3,300 km. It will be presented by Gary Imlach and broadcast daily at 8pm from the start in Pamplona on Saturday 18th August to the finish in Madrid on Sunday 9th September.
It's going to be a great race with last year's 2nd-placed rider and GC contender, Chris Froome, leading the nine-strong Team Sky squad alongside fellow Brits: Ben Swift and Ian Stannard. Full Team Sky line-up is:
