Hmmm. My speed/spend graph seems to be flatlining. People tell me to try "training" but I'm not convinced...

Thanks for the vote of confidence and wise words MtB,  and loving the 100% record!

Our lives continue to intersect in peculiar ways Dave.  I have, with respect for my advancing years, given up time-trialling just as you begin your, hopefully, long and fruitful history in this most British of sporting pursuits.

Don't worry too much about your time.  Firstly, it takes a few races before you learn to pace yourself properly and also, the 25 is a bitch of a distance.  Despite the opinions of non-cycling mathematicians, twenty-five miles takes five times the energy of a ten.  It's a proven fact, proven by many broken and breathless Sunday morning warriors.

One day, when you've got a few hours to spend humouring an old man I'll tell you the story of my 100% winning record in this event.  You'll get the gist if I tell you I've only ever entered one.

Haha! Thanks MR.Bizarrely, I really enjoyed it, and my average speed was 13.8 - 1.3mph faster than I normally ride! In this weeks CW, the star letter was from a guy who had produced a graph plotting speed/£spent. Perhaps I should produce one showing pleasure got/£spent! Still loving the Wiggle Road Bike and the, ahem, fourteen speed gears!

Good work for giving it a go though! And you got WAY better value for money out of your race fee than that guy.
