Just serviced my Fulcrum R5 hubs. After 5 hard years they still ran super smooth so I regreased the bearings and Bob's your aunty's husband.

They say you are only seven steps from any other person and to prove it .....

As a young man, dressed from head to toe in a very fetching khaki, I was stationed in the German town of Liebenau.  It was but a short jaunt up the road to Belsen (which I think your auto-thingie has converted to Nelson).  Strange place, to be sure.  The locals always said the birds didn't sing there, which wasn't quite true, but the atmosphere was hauntingly spooky.  Or was that just with the advantage of hindsight?

I never saw uncle Maurice although I now feel a little closer to him.

I'd forgotten you were a closet fettler MtB, must be very satisfying. Unfortunately, I am a Kack Handed Klutz, so every bit of servicing goes to one of lovely mechanics at my LBS. The closest I get to grubby fingers is washing and polishing and, naturellment, lubing. I keep meaning to go on one of the local bike hubs fettling courses, no excuses really.... And BTW my Aunties husbands name is Maurice. Worked his entire life on the cheese counter at the Coop in Cirencester, save for wartime army service when he was one of the troops who liberated Dacchau and Nelson. He never talked about it but what a juxtaposition.
